Preliminary Evaluation

What did we have to do?
For the preliminary task we were asked to go out of lesson and make a small documentary following conventions on the topic of of mobile phones and communication. It had to feature our one main interview, cutaways and music and all of the shots had to be filmed and edited by us.

What didn't work?
After finishing the task we had a small group watch it and give feedback. In parts it could be improved, for example with the use of more cutaways a jump cut thats in the documentary could be improved and covered. Also, the inteview was filmed at two different dates soo the shot clearly changes, this could of been avoided by making sure it was all done in one day. At times the music is also slightly too loud and distracts from the audio of the interview.

What have I learnt?
From this project i've learnt to plan the running order better and also to mainly try and remain continuity in the interviews. With better planning the jump cuts can be avoided as i'll know i'll have enough cutaways to cover them up. With better editing I can also ensure the levels of music and audio are correct and using headphones when editing will help this.
